The integrated 15 ft Type 6 tip sinks at 5 to 6 inches per second, allowing streamers to reach the lower water column quickly and maintain depth throughout the retrieve. Anglers can retrieve faster to cover the middle water column or fish slowly through deep pools, drop-offs and heavy current.
The floating running line supports mending, line management and easy pickup for the next cast. Tungsten Tip Technology provides fast-sinking performance, while Shooting Technology reduces friction through the guides for smooth, efficient casting.

Sinks fast and shoots far. Very smooth line I would recommend for throwing big streamers in faster deeper water.
I've caught plenty of fish with this line in the 7 weight version. I like how heavy it is and how easily it loads my rod. I have one complaint and that is it seems to have a very bad hinge point at the transition between the sinking and floating sections. casting 20-30 feet is a pain and I have to open my casting loop quite wide otherwise the difference in weight distribution seems to make the line act a bit weird. Other than that, I love it. Ive played around with full sinking lines all the way to floating and I am still trying to figure out what I like the best but this is one in the top 2 or 3 of lines I've used. I do fish smaller rivers ranging from 20-50 feet across and varying in depth from 3 foot flat sections to 12 foot deep holes. mainly fishing the driftless area of MN and WI
I’ve tried every brand of fly line there is, and when it comes to sink tip nothing compares to Cortland! It’s worked wonders on bigger water for salmon and I can’t wait to head to a trophy cutthroat lake with it spooled up soon!
I haven’t had a chance to use this yet but will use it this fishing season in northern NH and Maine. The Androscoggin and Connecticut Rivers in NH. And the Magalloway and KennebecRivers in Maine. Also hope to fish Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia this summer.
I bought the Cortland's Streamer Sink Tip 15 5 wt. fly line and I'm very happy with it. It sinks fast and stays in the strike zone longer, which is perfect for streamer fishing. It casts smoothly and accurately, and it doesn't coil up like some other sinking lines. It's also durable and easy to clean. I highly recommend this fly line for anyone who wants to catch big fish with streamers.
When the river is up and you need to get down fast this line does the trick. Handles great, casts well, and sinks like a champ. Does exactly what a streamer sink tip should.
The sink tip portion gets down and casts fine.
The floating portion tangles constantly.
Recently lost a monster bow when I tried to take it on the reel and it tangled.
Hope it will improve with time.
