Is nylon or fluorocarbon better for fly leaders?

Nylon is often preferred for dry flies and general fishing because it is more supple and floats better. Fluorocarbon is typically chosen for subsurface fishing due to abrasion resistance and sink rate.

Can this leader be used for nymphing?

Yes, for light nymphs and shallow presentations. For deeper or more abrasive environments, fluorocarbon leaders or tippet may be a better choice.

Is this a good leader for beginners?

Yes. Nylon leaders are forgiving, easy to handle, and work well across a wide range of fly fishing situations.

Great net

This is a great net at a good price. I’ve used it on three different fishing trips already.

We use this for our cat rescue

Our rescue group. Columbia Gorge Cat Rescue, spay/neuters homeless and feral cats on a donation basis for caregivers of community cats in our area. Often cats are brought to clinic in live traps which we administer anesthesia through the traps. However when they are brought in carriers we place a fishing net over the cat before giving the shot of anesthesia.

Not only does this keep the cat from jumping out of the carrier (the shot stings a little), it also protect the person giving the shot from bites and scratches.

This narrow width net fits through the door of the smaller carriers. It is very much appreciated safety equipment for us!
