Leaders to Fit any Fight

Leaders from Cortland Line Company offer a variety in length, size, material, and application to suit your needs and present your fly more efficiently.

Leaders

It’s a proven fact - a good leader can make you a better caster. It is also a proven fact that fishing an old scraggly chopped up leader can make you explode. Don’t do that. Here at Cortland Line co., we have taken the liberty of designing and manufacturing, with our most up to date technologies and processes, knotless tapered leaders to fit a variety of fishing situations or species.

Depending on your rod, reel, and fly line, you will need a specific leader. Fishing with a light rod and light line to present a dry fly with grace and precision? A nylon leader is probably your best bet. Are you fishing for finicky wild trout? Try a longer option like one of our 15ft Nylon Tapered Leaders. You can select the break strength and tippet size that work best for you. Are you fishing sub sub-surface near structure that could test the durability of your leader? Try fluorocarbon. Its abrasion resistance and low under water visibility make a perfect option for streamers and nymphs. We have also taken the time to design leaders that work best for specific species like salmon, steelhead, and bass. And our professionals have field tested them all!

A new leader can make all the difference in a fishing excursion. Whether it helps you to drill that 50 foot cast under a low-hanging tree with precision or launch a clouser in the cold salt water at maximum distance, we have what you need. Have a look below.
