GT / Tuna Breakdown

Targeting the biggest, baddest fish in the salt requires the right tool for the job. We designed our GT/Tuna line to hold up to the hardest pulling, fastest running fish in the tropics.

When targeting Giant Trevally or Tuna, it is important to capitalize on quick opportunities and trusting your line to hold up to extreme abuse. This is why we designed our GT/ Tuna line to feature a short 7 ft. compact body, with a 31 ft. extended rear taper for quick loading and carrying a lot of line in the air when the fish aren’t in close proximity. The short 3 ft. front taper effortlessly turns over a variety of fly patterns.

This line is built on a fifty-pound braid core for ultimate stopping power and features our grip set technology for strong, consistent hook sets without losing line control. Finished with our signature tropic plus coating for withstanding the hottest temperatures while still remaining slick, supple and fast shooting, this line consistently performs in tropic environments. The light blue and yellow color combination distinguishes taper change while remaining stealthy yet traceable out on the flats or offshore.

GRIP SET

Designed to give the angler a
better hook set when targeting
large game fish or fish with hard
mouths.

SHOOTING TECHNOLOGY

ST coating delivers a reduced-friction performance with a glass-smooth finish and remains a key element in line slickness over its life span.

TROPIC PLUS

The perfect blend of advanced polymers to achieve a hard, durable surface that remains slick in extreme heat.

FIFTY+ CORE

Built for the most demanding species. Core strength of more than 50lbs allows anglers to put maximum drag and pressure on a fish without compromising the taper design or line density.

WARM TEMPERATURE

Ideal use in 50 - 70 degree (F) temperatures

TROPICAL TEMPERATURE

Ideal use in 70 + degree (F) temperatures

Our Tropic Plus GT/Tuna is built for tropic environments and will perform best in temperatures above 7 degrees (F). Our Tropic PVC coating is designed to remain hard, slick and supple in the hottest conditions.

The taper design for our GT/Tuna line was built to be aggressive up front to quickly transfer energy into your cast and easily turn over any weighted or non-weighted pattern. The long rear taper helps excel in carrying line in the air and throwing tight loops. It also helps with quick pick ups off the water, when recasting to a target on the move. This line is built on a 50 LB core to hold up to the hardest pulling fish in the saltwater. True line size so your rod never feels overlined when casting maximum distance.

The light blue and yellow finish distinguishes taper change, while blending in with tropic environments. This line remains stealthy yet traceable out on the flats, surf or offshore.

Cleaning your fly line is very important especially when fishing saltwater. Simply pull line off your reel into a clean bucket or tub of freshwater. Put roughly 1oz or more of Cortland’s Line Cleaner solution onto a clean rag or towel. Firmly squeeze the towel with Pro Line Cleaner around the line and slowly pull line through the towel. You should be able to see dirt or discolored streaks on the towel when finished.
